Fubo has launched a ‘Super Aggregation strategy’ allowing users to subscribe to premium services directly through its platform, expanding consumer options in the competitive streaming market.
Fubo has unveiled a bold new feature in its product line-up, termed the “Super Aggregation strategy”, which enables potential subscribers to avail themselves of a variety of premium subscription services through Fubo’s platform, without the necessity of signing up for a full Fubo subscription. The announcement made recently aims to broaden Fubo’s appeal in the competitive streaming market.
Traditionally, services such as FanDuel Sports Network, NBA League Pass, and Paramount+ With Showtime were only accessible as add-ons for those who already had a Fubo subscription. The new arrangement changes this by allowing customers to subscribe to these services directly through Fubo. To complement this offering, Fubo has introduced ‘Fubo Free’, a free ad-supported television service boasting over 170 channels and on-demand content. Previously, ‘Fubo Free’ was only targeted at former subscribers as a promotional tool to entice them back into purchasing full subscriptions.
This expansion offers consumers three distinct paths to engage with Fubo’s offerings: traditional Fubo subscription plans, the new standalone premium subscription services, and Fubo Free. Additionally, the company is exploring other content delivery models such as pay-per-view options and transactional video on demand. These options are akin to rentals or sales that provide a range of viewing possibilities, adaptable to different consumer needs.
David Gandler, co-founder and CEO of Fubo, emphasized Fubo’s ambition to be a “Super Aggregator” in the streaming space. In a press announcement, Gandler articulated the demand for flexible streaming options that align with consumer preferences, allowing them to subscribe only to the content they desire. He stressed that offering a variety of bundles, ranging from minimal to comprehensive, empowers users with choice and represents the ideal of modern streaming.
At present, Fubo’s primary subscription service costs $80 per month, offering nearly 200 channels and unlimited recording capabilities. More expansive plans with additional channels are also available, priced at $100 and $110 monthly. Available on all major streaming platforms, Fubo remains the smallest among the four major live streaming options in the United States, with a subscriber base of 1.45 million as of mid-2024.
Fubo also indicated that there will be forthcoming announcements regarding additional standalone premium subscription services, further diversifying its already comprehensive suite of entertainment options.
