The new messaging application Daze has captivated Generation Z with over 100,000 followers on TikTok and more than three million views on promotional videos
A new messaging application, Daze, is taking the digital world by storm, primarily capturing the interest of Generation Z, even before its official launch on November 4. Even before being available for public download, Daze’s boasted over 100,000 followers on TikTok. Videos that showcase the distinct features of the app have amassed over three million views, which signals a significant level of intrigue and anticipation among potential users.
Daze has been crafted with the ambition of rivalling established messaging services like iMessage and WhatsApp, while incorporating a suite of innovative and engaging features tailored to the preferences of younger audiences. The app’s creator, Vilem Simons, shared with TechCrunch that the intention behind Daze was to combine comprehensive messaging capabilities with a fun, creative twist.
The app’s interface distinguishes itself from traditional messaging platforms by adopting a design approach reminiscent of Instagram Stories. Users are afforded the ability to personalise their messages with a variety of text placements, fonts, and colours, departing from the typical uniformity of speech bubbles. Simons elaborated on this by stating, “You can quickly type a message and hit ‘Send’ or drag a message anywhere within the chat. It’s simple to use and implement, but also very unrestricted.”
Currently in its beta testing phase, Daze has enlisted about 1,400 users, primarily within the 13-22 age bracket, reflecting a strong appeal to Generation Z. User feedback, particularly through social media channels like TikTok, indicates a positive reception, with many praising the app’s aesthetics and unique functionalities. Comments such as “Will there be more features?” and “I can’t wait for it to be released,” highlight the eagerness surrounding its launch.
Moreover, the app’s integration of artificial intelligence features has further bolstered its appeal, appealing to a generation accustomed to rapid technological advancements and customisation in digital communication.
With approximately 156,000 prospective users on its waiting list, Daze appears poised to make an impact upon its launch. Whether it will successfully compete against longstanding giants in the messaging app industry remains to be seen, but its current trajectory suggests a promising entry into the highly competitive market of digital communication tools.
