The financial publisher has launched a new feature that provides summaries of news articles on its terminal.
Bloomberg has introduced artificial intelligence-generated news summaries to its stories to enhance content accessibility on its terminal. This initiative builds on the company’s earlier implementation of AI-generated earnings call summaries.
The new feature presents users with three concise bullet points at the beginning of Bloomberg News articles found on the terminal. The summaries are evaluated by Bloomberg’s subject matter experts who refine the performance of the large language model responsible for creating them.
This development is aimed at assisting financial professionals and corporate executives in managing their time more effectively. By distilling complex news articles into brief summaries, Bloomberg allows users to quickly assess which stories merit further exploration, thereby facilitating an informed decision-making process.
Chris Collins, chief product officer of news at Bloomberg, emphasised the importance of this tool in today’s information-rich environment. “The fast-paced information landscape is increasingly challenging for financial professionals and news audiences to navigate,” he said. “AI-powered news summaries help users stay on top of the news they need to make informed business decisions.”
This strategic move highlights a broader trend in the news publishing industry, where organisations are increasingly integrating AI to optimise content delivery and enhance audience engagement. AI-enhanced grammar and proofreading tools are becoming mainstream, improving the quality and accuracy of published materials while reducing the workload of human editors.
